The purpose of this position is to perform the permitting, regulatory compliance and environmental activities to support the front-end engineering and design (FEED) and engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) of large-scale projects in the energy, chemicals and metals sectors across Canada.

Permitting, regulatory compliance and environmental activities will be performed to meet contractual requirements and in accordance with applicable acts, regulations, bylaws, and guidelines. The individual will demonstrate personal accountability, effective communication and engagement, and support a culture of caring for people and the environment.

Principal job duties and responsibilities include:

• Develop and prepare applications for permits, approvals, licences, registrations, and other authorizations.

• Obtain information, data and seek alignment with engineering disciplines, construction, subcontractors, consultants, and clients to support the preparation of permit applications.

• Develop project permitting plans and compliance management systems.

• Develop construction environmental management plans related to stormwater, dust, noise, chemical, and waste management.

• Work with engineering disciplines to ensure that engineering designs and equipment specifications meet regulatory requirements and environmental and sustainability best practices.

• Maintain project master permit registers, permit status trackers and action item logs.

• Coordinate responses to any comments or requests for supplemental information from governmental authorities on permit applications.

• Support engagement with governmental authorities, Indigenous groups, stakeholders and adjacent landowners whilst adhering to client’s external relations requirements.

• Monitor any new legislation or regulatory changes that may have an impact on permits, engineering or construction activities and provide guidance to project management.

• Organize and prioritize multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities, and meet deadlines to support the project schedule.
