Fluor Electrical Field Engineer in Los Alamos, New Mexico

Job Description:

The candidate will support projects throughout the Los Alamos Nuclear Lab to ensure safe, efficient and cost-effective delivery of work. The Electrical Field Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the technical aspects of construction projects are in full conformance with approved construction documents and contractual requirements. The Electrical Field Engineer will perform routine construction engineering assignments that requires a full working knowledge of construction engineering practices and exercise professional judgment within the framework of established guidelines. The selected candidate(s) must understand and be committed to the Laboratory's safety culture, continuous improvement process and leadership principles for its expanding portfolio.

· Responsible for worker safety on the project enforcing a Zero Accidents philosophy

· Prepares equipment and parts checklists and other project documents

· Prepare or oversees preparation of field material purchase requisitions, including estimating the quantities and material takeoffs of the field purchases of materials and compliance with design specifications and drawings

· Reviews Work Packages and Work Instructions for completeness

· Reviews project design and engineering documents to ensure their completeness and constructability

· Provides guidance on design engineering drawings and prepares construction field sketches

· Assists construction supervision in planning construction methods and procedures

· Field verifies construction materials for compliance and storage requirements

· Provides quality oversight of installers on periodic basis

· Prepares Field Change Requests and liaisons with other Engineering Services personnel to resolve technical issues in the field

· Inspects construction work for compliance with drawings, specifications and national codes and standards

· Prepares and maintains records of quantities and construction inspection work, and may prepare material and installation portions of subcontract bid packages

· Prepares daily progress reports and keeps supervisors informed on progress of assigned tasks

· Assists with review and coordination of RFI responses

· Assist/Perform Turnover to Start-up

· Assists in tracking of project deliverables, including quality deficiencies

· Assists the Senior Construction and Design Engineers, including witness testing, interpretation of design drawings and specifications, and closeout requirements

· Mentors Junior Construction Engineers in their functions and tasks
