Fluor Expediter I in United Arab Emirates
Coordinates transportation of all project cargo with particular emphasis on heavy and/or over–sized equipment, hazardous cargo and complex international shipments. Support the procurement and delivery of materials. Maintains a relationship between materials, accounts payable, and purchasing departments. Works from established schedules, bills of material, specifications, priorities, and general instructions of supervisor to coordinate requisitions, purchase orders, and material deliveries. Follows-up and expedites processing and procurement of material through purchasing department to assure delivery and availability of materials by date required. Contacts suppliers to verify order status and acts as liaison between project group and functional groups and notifies supervisor of unusual difficulties or indications of impending delay in per-established schedule. Prepares periodic and special reports concerning status of project being followed and reports outstanding purchase and work orders, inventory status etc. Interfaces with suppliers on past due purchase orders, delivery confirmation and resolving purchase order problems. Reviews purchase requisitions, selects bidders, prepares quotations and evaluates vendor quotes. Will make award determination and negotiate terms and place purchase orders in accordance with FAR regulations and company policies.
Position may be located in a war zone in a contingency environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions, including lifting and carrying 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time. To ensure safety, health, and security measures within the contract are met, all employees shall be literate in English (read, write, speak and understand).
Living conditions on the project are most likely austere. The most austere sleeping may be in environmentally conditioned tents on “Army type” cots. Restrooms and showers may be 250 feet or further from sleeping quarters. Laundry service for 15 pounds twice per week is commonly provided. Meals are provided at regular intervals in cafeteria or “dining facility” style environment. Living area will most likely have constant hum of generators or similar equipment nearby.
