Job Description:

Installs, services, and repairs environmental control systems in residences, utilizing knowledge of

refrigeration theory, pipefitting, and structural layout. Mounts compressor and condenser units on platform

or floor, using hand tolls, following blueprints or engineering specifications. Overseas the installation of

evaporator units in chassis or in air duct systems. Assists with the installation of expansion and discharge

valves in circuits. Observes and assists operations such as; Connects motors, compressors, temperature

controls, humidity controls, and circulating-ventilating fans to control panels and connects control panels

to power source. Overseas the installation of air and water filters in completed installation. Observes

pressure and vacuum gauges and adjusts controls to ensure efficient operation. Tests joints and

connections for gas leaks, using leak detection instrumentation or soap-and water solution. May replace

defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring to repair installed units,

using electrician’s hand tools and test equipment. May install, repair, and service air-conditioners in

accordance with applicable codes, standards and/or manufacturer’s instructions. Will be required to

possess the appropriate EPA certification, or an approved equivalent, to perform work with refrigerant.

Foreman – Possesses all of the journey level skills, have verifiable minimum experience and/or holds and

accepted certification, license and/or degree. Usually considered the most experienced, highest skilled

professional in their respective field. May provide supervision for a specific craft crew. Requires little or no

supervision.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

As directed by management, may supervise employees or subcontractor personnel in accordance with

the “General Supervisory Duties and Responsibilities” addendum.

TYPICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Position may be located in a wide variety of environments, from conventional indoor office workspace to

project worksites with harsh, working and living conditions. To ensure compliance with safety, health and security requirements in the contract, employee will

possess the ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language at the intermediate level as

necessary to perform assigned job functions.

Position requires the basic skills and physical ability necessary to perform assigned job functions.

TYPICAL EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

GED equivalent preferred. four (4) years to seven (7) years related experience.

Requires the technical skills, job knowledge and physical ability necessary to perform assigned job

functions.

Journeyman license/certificate or equivalent is required
